Animation Pipeline Investigation
Animation on a movie or film, is a team project. It takes multiple people working on multiple parts to make an animation idea into a 3d animation ready for the big screen. First it goes into the pre-production phase where that animation idea gets turned into a 2d drawing animation. Then its sent to the production phase where people model the characters and backgrounds, work on lighting, get the layout correct, animate the camera and characters, and texture everything to match the 2d animation drawing wanted. Finally its sent to the post-production phase where everything rendered and sound is added in if there is any. Each part of the process is critical and needed to create high quality animation. The role that I would most enjoy working in is probably the modeling role. I would like to learn more about lighting and story boarding.
